Reyita’s everyday struggle: re-signifying and challenging forms of survival
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article aims to display Reyita’s story as an example of Black Caribbean woman’s struggle. Reyita faced the “colonial regulatory power” in her everyday forms of resistance as a revolutionary subject of contestation and transformation. The Reyita’s story is not much different from the life stories of many Black Brazilian and overall African diasporic women. Be it the stories of women that remain anonymous even today or be it the few women that could have their narratives publicized. Hence, the Black women’s knowledge production has engaged with the experiences of those who have been historically excluded and oppressed.
