MONOPOLY, RACISM AND JUSTICE AS CAPACITY
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article is focused on the relationship between economic concentration and racism in Brazil. We analyze, initially, the monopolistic character of the productive structure of colonial Brazil and its implications for contemporary Brazil. In a second moment, discusses the racism characteristics in Brazil, highlighting the concept of brand's prejudice by Oracy Nogueira, based on which is analyzed the relationship between racism and socio-economic elements in the country. Based on the concept of Amartya Sen's capability, we seek to affirm the relationship of mutual reinforcement between economic concentration and racism in Brazil, considering that both imply restrictions on the ability of Brazilian blacks.
