Abstract
The paper discusses issues regarding the education of race and ethnic relations in the context of initialThe paper discusses issues regarding the education of race and ethnic relations in the context of initialteacher’s education, specifically History teachers; thus, considering teaching the focus of this research. Thetext brings a group of academic activities related to teaching, research and extension courses, developed in apublic university, considering the importance of the teacher’s qualification for the teaching of African-Brazilianand African History and Culture, according to guidelines contained in various documents produced from thecontext of Law 10.639/2003. The present paper also explores a number of accounts by teachers, and defendsthat effective dialogue with school culture and its curriculum is a key element of the endeavor to guarantee the permanence of an anti-racist perspective in the Brazilian school of Basic Education, a factor that interferes directly in building a more just and equal society for White and African-Brazilian people.
