Main Article Content
Abstract
Founded in 1979, the Black Cultural Center (CCN) of Maranhão is the first organization of the Black Movement in the State with established goals guided by a perspective of valorizing social, cultural, political and education of black people in Maranhão. Currently, besides being an area of combating racism, the Black Cultural Center of Maranhão also develops a series of cultural activities aimed at strengthening the black identity and appreciation of the African elements, present in the culture of Maranhão. We can point out "Culture and Identity African-Brazilian" and, more specifically, the Akomabu African Block, created in 1984 as an instrument of transmission and enhancement of African culture among children and teenagers.
