Main Article Content
Abstract
This work presents a brief theoretical, conceptual and dialogic study about the emerging field of study called Visual Culture, highlighting how visualities act as sources of cultural, ideological and identity representations, being able to articulate with the educational issues. In this perspective, this study will address issues related to representations of black people through images linked to the children's book Histórias de Tia Nastácia, written by Monteiro Lobato; pointing to the rupture of any racist practice, without banning the work of Monteiro Lobato, but alerting to the need for a reflective, denouncing and updated reading of racial issues, in this case, by the teachers.
