Abstract
O filme resenhado venceu o prêmio Fespaco em Burkina Faso no ano de 1987 e foi dirigido pelo cineasta Med Hondo. Nascido na Mauritânia é senhor de uma trajetória marcante como cineasta, teatrólogo, ator e dublê de voz. Teve passagem importante pela TV onde produziu duas séries, uma em 1967 e outra em 1990. Seus trabalhos são significativos por analisar os períodos colonial e neocolonial africano. O motivo pelo qual apresento uma breve biografia do cineasta é estar ciente da situação excludente e invisibilizada do cinema e cineastas africanos no Brasil. Sem tirar o mérito das obras cinematográficas brasileiras que retratam o negro brasileiro destaco que essas não descrevem, por certo, a complexidade da cultura de base africana brasileira.
