Abstract
O presente trabalho busca fazer uma análise reflexiva sobre como o sincretismo religioso e o hibridismo cultural, processo pelo qual as diferenças associam-se, criando estruturas novas, traduzidas e ressignificadas, foram capazes de fazer com que a religiosidade afro-brasileira pudesse resistir e se afirmar em território luso-americano, mesmo diante das tentativas de generalizações e desconstrução dessa religiosidade. Nesse sentido, o sincretismo religioso e o hibridismo cultural foram mecanismos de resistência contra as tentativas coloniais de descaracterização das tradições de matriz africana.
