FREEDOM, VIOLENCE, RACISM AND DISCRIMINATION: NARRATIVE OF BLACK AND MARRON WOMEN IN SOUTHWEST OF BAHIA/BRAZIL
Main Article Content
Abstract
Reproductive health is related to the enjoyment of the freedom intrinsic to sexual and reproductive rights. The central question in this work is how the notion of freedom, violence and racism/discrimination are linked to social status, gender, race/ethnicity. The aim: to analyze conceptions/social representations, conceptions of freedom, violence, racism and discrimination present in the speeches of black and maroon women, set in a marital relationship. The research is qualitative and approaches reproductive issues of women, from a gender and race cropping. Were interviewed 40 black and maroon women in conjugal union for at least one year. We analyzed the reports from the NVIVO software. The speech differences regarding freedom and racist conceptions may be related either to the issue of racism in Brazil, historically experienced by black women in daily life, as the specifically cultural issues of women's groups in focus in this study.
