Abstract

This is a result of research about the meanings of a black teacher built in the intertwining of the family and professional spheres. It was chosen by the life history and found the following results: a) the first acts of racial discrimination suffered by Ana occurred in the family. B) Ana suffered racial discrimination when she started teaching. C) Becoming a black teacher is a process of struggle, negotiation and identification. D) Facing racial issues in school is still dependent on the "goodwill" of teachers. In analyzing the teacher's speech, it is understood that the root of social inequalities, of the negative image created for the black segment, is not limited to a moral disturbance of the Brazilian, but a systematic and violent reproduction of the racial order, which commands the frame of inferiorization of one segment and the enhancement of another.
